Mirror

Stainless standing still
I see the drop
Dripping down the drain
But then it’s gone again
Corner of my eye
A strange thing stirs
Easy to explain
I’ll just turn to my right side
Mirror on my mood
A toxic laugh
Lingers on the light
I look too long again
But it doesn’t hurt
I just feel numb
Just like my left side
I slip and I slide away

A Very Different World
04:14

(Orson Welles)
This is a friend's country house, like myself they're always on the move so this retreat of theirs is mine for a while. You know, comfortable homes like old friends give us a sense of security, the feeling that some things at least stay the same. It's a feeling we need very much in this changing world. Everyday we're bombarded by choices, we need to make instant decisions, we're in endless combat with our own environment, with all its pace and variety, its choice and overchoice.
Relationships seem to be more and more temporary. What we're witnessing of course is the death of permanence. A new society is being created around us built from the broken pieces of today, and those who people that society are going to live in a very different world.
The impact of future shock does not depend on the nature of its victims - they're everywhere - but everywhere in modern technological society there are those who recognize the dangers, and are turning toward the future.

Space Above the Ceiling
04:40
|
|
||
Window-blinds
Close out the evening sky
Pesticides
Sprayed out and left to dry
Unsubtle
Bound by a stubbornness
Loudly left
To their own devices
Tuning out into silence
Concerning with the past tense
Seeing is believing
Space above the ceiling
(x2)
Peeling back
Layers from old paintings
Weird tigers
In the middle distance
Next to a
Ditch of half-grown grasses
No sense of
Historical basis
Tuning out into silence
Concerning with the past tense
Seeing is believing
Space above the ceiling

Along the Border
03:51
|
|
||
Slowing down and growing sideways
Glancing off an awkward rephrase
Spoiled by a mixed opinion
Slightly off but still unyielding
Spilled the paint along the border
Flipped aside and loosely warmer
Vivid new associations
Found again, again
Drawn on like a dimming fire
Saturated by desire
Chaos stares back from a misprint
Dousing in a different pigment
Spilled the paint along the border
Flipped aside and loosely warmer
Vivid new associations
Found again with greater patience
Throwing wind out to the caution
Round again, again

Record-Breaking Tide

Waking up
Morning cup
Nothing turns it off
Overflow
Doesn’t show
Stains on all the clothes
On the shore
More and more
Turning upside down
Ocean foam
Space to roam
Nothing left to hide
Afternoon
Steady soon
Tilt towards the town
Hanging on
Drifting lawn
Record-breaking tide
Countertop
A new crop
Spread out evenly
Sentient husk
Floating dusk
Sudden change in wind
On the shore
More and more
Turning upside down
Ocean foam
Space to roam
Nothing left to hide
Afternoon
Steady soon
Tilt towards the town
Hanging on
Drifting lawn
Record-breaking tide
On the shore
More and more
Turning upside down
Ocean foam
Space to roam
Nothing left to hide
